1. GIGW Compliance

Employees’ State Insurance Corporation Website, "www.esic.in" is CMS complied and follows guidelines of the ‘Guidelines for Indian Government Websites’(GIGW). These Guidelines have been framed with an objective to make the Indian Government Website conform to the essential pre-requisite of UUU trilogy, User-Centric and Universally Accessible. The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation Website is having designated ‘Website Information Manager/Website Contents Manager’ and meets all the requirements of ‘Guidelines for Indian Government Websites’(GIGW).

2. Web Information Manager

Employees’ State Insurance Corporation website is fully compliant with GIGW guidelines. In this context, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation website is also having a Web Information Manager, at the level of Joint Secretary. The Web Information Manger should undertake the following activities with regards to the website being maintained by him :

  • Formulation of policies concerning management of content on the website.
  • Ensuring that all content on the website is always authentic, up-to date and obsolete information or services removed.
  • Changing and periodically validating links to related information.
  • Ensuring the entry of the website at a prominent rank in all the major search engines so that the sites’s visibility is enhanced and users are made aware of its address.
  • Web Information Manager is overall responsible for quality and quantity of information and services on the website. The complete contact details of the Web Information Manager must be displayed on the website, so that the visitor could contact him/her incase of some queries or requirements.
  • Since the websites receive a lot of feedback mails from the visitors, it is the responsibility of the Web Information Manager to either reply to all of them himself/herself or designate someone to regulary check and respond to the feedback/query mails.

3. Website Content Manager

There is a proper flow of content to the site and that content quality and user satisfaction issues are being taken care of. To achieve this , Website Content Manager should undertake the following activities with regards to the website being maintained by him :

  • Regular monitoring of website for Performance, Security and availability.
  • Ensuring compliance with policies (organizational, regulatory, legislative, etc.) that may require changes in website content, architecture, security, process etc.
  • Ensuring that all content on the website is always authentic, up-to date and obsolete information or services removed.
  • Periodic security audit of the website in line with major revisions.
  • Analysis of traffic on website ad feedback to development/management team.

4. Privacy Policy

The website will never collect any of your personal information. Any user visiting the site may or may not reveal information to us. The website will only log the information of your visits for statistical requirements that may include the name of the server, the browser type; the date and time, you accessed the site, the accessed pages, the downloaded documents, and the Internet address through which you have previously logged onto the site. We do not identify users or their browsing activities. We may do so if required by the Law of India. For replying to your message, we may record your e-mail or web address. 5. Content Contribution, Moderation, and Approval Policy

We provide a role-based Content Management System. This CMS allows the website administrator to share access with a panel of different Users. The website administrator will also be able to manage information specifically meant for internal use, which will be viewable to all members upon successful login. The administrator can create users and assign them to a specific Role and Module. These roles are:
Creator: This role includes Content Creator (s) who are responsible for content addition, deletion, and edits on the website and send it to for approval.
Moderator: The Moderator approves the Editor’s content.
Publisher: A Publisher may edit and review the content before publishing the content on the website.
The Website Administrator will appoint these roles, and would be responsible for overall quality and quantity of information on the Website. The Administrator will be responsible for supervising authentic and updated information is available on the website, all the time.

6. Web Content Review Policy

The Website Administrator and the assigned Roles will share the responsibility for periodical reviews of the website content w.r.t to their corresponding domains. A definite workflow must be followed before uploading an updated content on the website.

7. Content Archival Policy

We provide Archival Management to Users/Clients and include contents that must be archived. This policy ensures that the older/expired content is removed from the website. An Archival System available on the Website automatically transfers the expired content to the Archives once it reaches expiry date.
The Archived Data will be available on each page along with the Search option for searching information between two given dates.

8. Website Security Policy

The website requires a security clearance from Employees’ State Insurance Corporation before hosting any content on website in its data center.

9. Website Monitoring Policy

We periodically monitor to address and fix the quality and compatibility issues of the website on the following parameters:

  • Functionality: We test all modules of the website for their smooth functionality.
  • Performance: We test important web pages for the download time.
  • Broken Links: We meticulously review the website to rule out the presence of any broken links or errors.

10. Contingency Management

Since it is expected the Government websites must deliver authentic information and services 24X7, 365 days a year. Employees’ State Insurance Corporation takes stringent measures to minimize the downtime and ensures the website is fully functional, at all times.
In case of any defacement and data corruption, the authorized staff takes quick action for the same.
